Every fall, around mid-October, golfers throughout the greater Kissimmee area gather at Hawk's Landing Golf Course in Orlando for a fun event that benefits a great local nonprofit. The Russell Home for Atypical Children annual golf tournament has been a Florida tradition more than 40 years in the making, and Orange Buick GMC is proud to serve as a sponsor for this wonderful organization and event.

This year, the Russell Home Golf Tournament is scheduled to happen on October 21st, starting at 7 AM. With a four-person team and "Best Ball Scramble" format, the tournament features prizes, contests, and trophies, including a brand-new, 2024 Buick Encore Envista or Buick Encore GX, donated by us, for the coveted hole-in-one contest.

Unfamiliar with the Russell Home for Atypical Children? Here are a few tidbits, to help you get better acquainted with this valued community resource:

  • Founded in 1951, the Russell House supports disabled children in the Winter Garden area as a nonprofit, private facility that works without the assistance of government support.
  • The Russell Home for Atypical Children was started more than seven decades ago when a kindhearted woman, named Grandma Russell, first opened the doors of her private residence to help children in need of support and caring.
  • It's the only nonprofit organization of this kind in central Florida, offering a home-like atmosphere with round-the-clock services and attention.
  • Other ways to support the Home include patronizing a wonderful onsite boutique or attending the annual fundraising gala, held every spring.
