Many parts of the United States have to wait until late spring and summer months to enjoy freshly-picked, locally grown strawberries. But, here in Florida, it's a delicacy we get to enjoy in the winter months! In fact, we don't even have to go to the grocery store to get them because there are many U-Pick strawberry farms around the area.

The Florida Strawberry Growers Association has some great tips on how to enjoy your trip to the strawberry farm, including:
  • Bring your own containers
  • Select only firm, ripe berries
  • Be careful not to remove the tops of the berries
But what do you do with all those strawberries after you pick them? If you're like many people, your eyes were much bigger than your refrigerator or ability to eat pounds of berries before they start going bad. Freezing the berries is always a great option, especially if you like to use them in shakes and smoothies.
